Game of Thrones Season 8 Facts

Game of Thrones Season 8 is the most awaited penultimate final season of Game of Thrones. Here are all the Game of Thrones Season 8 facts.

Game of Thrones Season 8 Facts – What Do We Know So Far About Game of Thrones Season 8?

game of thrones season 8
Game of Thrones Season 8 premiere date will most likely be in late 2018 or in early 2019. Iain Glen (Jorah Mormont) just revealed the reason behind the delay in release date of the next season in his interview with Comic Con 2017.

Game of Thrones Season 8 Premiere Date

Game of Thrones Season 8 cast Game of Thrones Season 8 facts

Iain Glen revealed that production for Game of Thrones season 8 will use only one filming unit instead of two units. The past seasons have used two units with the exception of season 3 which used 3 units.

We’re all starting to occupy the same territory, we’re all starting to be in the same storylines and so they can’t [have two filming units] anymore,” he explained. “I think this last season will take much longer to shoot because they can only use one unit because we’re all in the same sort of scenes.”

So that explains the delay in Game of Thrones Season 8 release date.

Game of Thrones Season 8 Facts – Multiple Endings For Season 8 Finale, Extra Security To Avoid Leaks

game of thrones season 8
Casey Bloys, HBO Programming Director, spoke at Bethlehem revealing that HBO is gonna take strong measures to prevent the leaks. For this reason, Game of Thrones production will shoot multiple endings for season 8 finale. Apparently, even the Game of Thrones cast won’t know how Game of Thrones series will conclude. Game of Thrones Season 8

Speaking of security, recently Liam Cunningham (Davos Seaworth) revealed that he has the Game of Thrones season 8 scripts but he can’t even read them. Why? Because of security concerns. “I got the scripts for the last season. Kind of. I got them all – I can’t open them because of all the security and I can’t walk them out. I went, ‘I’m not touching it I don’t care because it’s like pulling the pin out of a grenade.”

Game of Thrones Season 8 Episodes Will Be Monumental & Of Feature Length

Another fact about Game of Thrones Season 8 is that each episode of the last season of Game of Thrones will be of feature length. Liam Cunningham recently spoke about this with TV Guide

[The episodes are] definitely going to be bigger and what I hear is longer,” says Cunningham. “We’re filming right up until the summer. When you think about it, up until last season we’d have six months to do ten episodes, so we’re [doing] way more than that for six episodes. So that obviously will translate into longer episodes.”

That also explains the delay in Game of Thrones season 8 premiere date. I hope that the wait is worth it. Seems like it will be as John Bradley (Samwell Tarly) revealed in an interview that each episode of Game of Thrones Season 8 will be monumental. Says John Bradley, “I think what we used to call Episode 9 in ‘Game of Thrones’ folklore — the episode when everything comes to a head and you get a lot of spectacular sequences — I think you’re gonna get six ‘Episode 9s’ this year.”

Game of Thrones Season 8 Budget Is Gonna Be Huge – $15 Million Or More Per Episode

The Night King on the Undead Viserion

Game of Thrones has announced the budget for Season 8. It is going to be $15 million or more per episode. Wow, that’s amazing. That means that perhaps the fans will get to see the direwolves, Ghost and Nymeria. Also, more epic battle scenes. In my opinion, we are going to see epic battle scenes at Winterfell and the King’s Landing. Remember, the Night King is headed towards Winterfell after the wall fell.

Another Game of Thrones Season 8 Facts – Casting Calls For Seven New Roles

Game of Thrones rolled out a nationwide casting call for seven new roles for GoT Season 8. They are looking for a Northern farmeraged 25 – 35; a sassy and attractive girlaged 18 – 25; a mercenary, aged 35-50; a Northern sentryaged 18 – 25; two guards; and a sailor, aged 35- 50.

Most of these roles are based on the people in the north, except the mercenary and the sailor. The mercenary will most likely be part of the Golden Company. The sailor would most likely assist Theon Greyjoy in his quest to rescue Yara Greyjoy.

Game of Thrones Season 8 Directors Confirmed

Game of Thrones has assembled an amazing crew of directors to film the last season. These directors have won Emmys for directing Game of Thrones episodes in the past. Add to that list the showrunners who have created this amazing show.

Miguel Sapochnik is returning to direct 3 episodes of Game of Thrones Season 8. He has directed the famous episodes of ‘Hardhome’, ‘Battle of Bastards’, and ‘The Winds of Winter’. David Nutter who directed ‘The Rains of Castamere (aka The Red Wedding)’, ‘The Dance of Dragons’, and ‘Mother’s Mercy’ will be directing two episodes. And the showrunners, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss (“Walk of Punishment’, and ‘Two Swords’ will direct the penultimate Game of Thrones finale.

Iain Glen Video: Cast of Game of Thrones Season 8 To Meet On October 9 For A Read-Through

Game of Thrones Season 8 cast
Iain Glen (Jorah Mormont) talked about the date for the first read-through meet up of Game of Thrones season 8 cast in his interview with Stockholm Comic Con. The footage was discovered by Watchers on the Wall. We now know when the entire Game of Thrones cast is gonna meet for the first read-through of Game of Thrones season 8.

Game of Thrones Season 8 Cast Meet Up On October 9

Iain Glen is seen telling his audience at Stockholm Comic Con (at 20:43 in the video) that the Game of Thrones Season 8 cast will meet for a read-through on October 9th. Until then, he has no idea what season 8 holds, though he “would just be happy to be alive and in what I imagine is going to be a massive battle [in which] I then survive or die nobly” (21:38).

Why This Two Year Gap in Game of Thrones Season 8 Release Date?

He also told (at 6:40) that production for season 8 will use only one filming unit instead of two units. The past seasons have used two units with the exception of season 3 which used 3 units.

We’re all starting to occupy the same territory, we’re all starting to be in the same storylines and so they can’t [have two filming units] anymore,” he explained. “I think this last season will take much longer to shoot because they can only use one unit. Because we’re all in the same sort of scenes.”

What Else Does Iain Glen Say In The Stockholm Comic Con Video?

    • Iain Glen is fond of the last scene of Game of Thrones Season 1 Finale. Daenerys gives birth to the three dragons in that scene.
    • Another scene Glen is fond of is the gladitorial sequence in Game of Thrones Season 5 when he had to fight in an old bullring with six different fighters in front of Daenerys
    • According to Iain Glen, Jorah Mormont has moved past the desire of having a physical relationship with Daenerys Targaryen.
    • Iain would be happy to die in Game of Thrones Season 8 while trying to save Daenerys from a sword
    • Iain reveals that actors are always the last ones to know what is gonna happen in a season. He went in for a greyscale prosthetic fitting before he even knew that he will be having greyscale
    • About his fate in Game of Thrones Season 8 while fighting the long night: Iain Glen said that he will be happy to survive this massive battle or die while fighting nobly
    • Iain Glen revealed that he was once played as a country singer in a movie called Small Country Repair

The entire cast will be congregating in Northern Ireland for a read-through soon. The filming of Game of Thrones season 8 is supposed to begin this month. The use of only 1 unit explains why Game of Thrones filming and production may end up taking 10 months. We recently learned that Game of Thrones Season 8 may end up filming multiple endings. That can also cause further delay in the Game of Thrones season 8 release date. The expectations from the last season are already high.

Every Episode of Game of Thrones Season 8 Will Be Monumental – Says John Bradley (Samwell Tarly)

Game of Thrones Season 8 episodes

John Bradley (Samwell Tarly) just raised the bar for Game of Thrones Season 8 episodes. He recently gave an interview to HuffPost. According to him season 8 is gonna be pretty epic.

What To Expect From Game of Thrones Season 8 Episodes?

We recently heard from Casey Bloys, HBO’s Programming Director, that the last season of Game of Thrones will have multiple endings to avoid the leaks. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau apparently doesn’t think that HBO would waste their money like that.

We also heard that the budget for season 8 episodes is gonna be about or more than $15 million. Season 8 filming is starting this month. Add that to the list of amazing directors that game of thrones season 8 episodes are going to have. Miguel Sapochnik who directed ‘Hardhome’, ‘Battle of Bastards’, and ‘The Winds of Winter’ is going to direct 3 episodes. David Nutter who directed ‘The Rains of Castamere’, ‘The Dance of Dragons’, and ‘Mother’s Mercy’ will be directing two episodes. And the showrunners, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss (“Walk of Punishment’, and ‘Two Swords’ will direct the penultimate Game of Thrones finale.

game of thrones season 8 episodes

Samwell Tarly (John Bradley) has raised the expectations even further. Jon Bradley told HuffPost, “We assembled a team of directors this year who have been in charge of some of our big episodes in the past. Miguel and David have done some of the standout episodes of previous seasons. Clearly, every single episode of the six you’ve got left in Season 8 is gonna be monumental and needs somebody at the helm who’s done that kind of high-stakes, high-octane direction before for us.”

According to Bradley, the viewers should expect six Episode 9s next season. “I think what we used to call Episode 9 in ‘Game of Thrones’ folklore — the episode when everything comes to a head and you get a lot of spectacular sequences — I think you’re gonna get six ‘Episode 9s’ this year.”

About David Benioff and D. B. Weiss Directing The Series Finale?

game of thrones season 8 episodes
Bradley thinks that David Benioff and D. B. Weiss directing the Game of Thrones finale is a poetic decision. “They know everything about the show. They’ve been in charge of everything ― every key decision in all seven seasons so far has been made by David and Dan. I think they’ve done an incredible job with this series. They deserve everything they get, and they deserve the right to finish this show off in the way they see fit. I don’t think there’s anybody better qualified, so I can’t wait.

Well, each day is gonna be harder for fans to wait for the last season of Game of Thrones. John Bradley’s full interview can be found here

Game of Thrones Season 8 Filming To Begin Soon

A few days earlier Nikolaj Coster-Waldau dropped a hint for the filming to start in October. Thanks to Ray Jorden, a twitterati we now know that Maise Williams has been stopped in Belfast, Northern Ireland, which houses a production center of Game of Thrones.

Maise Williams may have been called in earlier because of all the fighting sequences she needs to be trained for in the upcoming battles of the long night and the great war.

We will see other actors dropping by soon. This production center houses the famous set of Winterfell castle.

The Importance of the Belfast Game of Thrones Set in Game of Thrones Season 8

The Game of Thrones production crew has been working on the set quite hard.

Winterfell is going to be a central place of a rendezvous for all of the remaining Game of Thrones cast to fight the long night and the great war. There are going to be several reunions there between the surviving GOT characters. I am pretty sure that there is going to be a battle scene at Winterfell between the Night King and his army of the dead (not to forget the undead Viserion) and Daenerys, Jon Snow and their allies. So we will see a lot of Game of Thrones characters pouring into Belfast over the next few days.

Game of Thrones Season 8: Casting Call For Seven New Roles

There has been a casting call for seven new roles for Game of Thrones Season 8. The fan site Watchers on the Wall has information on several new roles being cast for the occasion. Let’s take a look at what new characters we may see in the most awaited new Game of Thrones season.

Casting Call For Seven New Roles For Game of Thrones Season 8

Seven new roles for Game of Thrones Season 8

Game of Thrones Cast & Crew

Game of Thrones cast is huge. We will see the whole got cast coming together in the epic final season as the Great War and the long night commences. But we will also see seven new characters in the next season.

Details About The Casting Call For Seven New Roles For Game of Thrones Season 8

The casting call sounds like the following for these new characters:

Northern farmer, aged 25 – 35. This guy is a “straightforward honest man of simple tastes.” He’ll shoot the week of November 17th.

Sassy and attractive girl, aged 18 – 25. This is another small Northern role; this character will film the week of November 6 and play opposite leading cast members in a “memorable” scene. This is the only female role on the list but there has been another casting call for a younger Northern girl out there, too.

Mercenary, aged 35-50. This guy is “an authoritative, fit, cool and charismatic military type.” He needs to to be able to ride a horse and will appear in two episodes of season 8. This character may be one of the men of the Golden company.

Seven New Roles for game of thrones season 8

Daario Naharis of the Golden Company

Cersei tasked Euron Greyjoy to hire the Golden Company in Essos to fight Daenerys in the Game of Thrones Season 7 finale. So we may see Daario Naharis and/or a mercenary along with him in the next season.

Seven New Roles For Game of Thrones Season 8

Northern sentry, aged 18 – 25. This is another role with scenes opposite leading cast members. HBO wants “a characterful young Northern actor with great timing.” He’ll shoot in the first week December. We saw 2 sentries in the Spoils of War who stopped Arya at the gates of the Winterfell castle.

Two Guards: Guard #1 is a physically fit 20-something who’s good in a fight. He’ll be shooting the first week of December. Guard #2 is a tall, athletic 30-something. He’s professional, dependable and has one line opposite leading cast members. He’ll be shooting on November 1 and 2 in Spain. So we now know that the production for Game of Thrones Season 8 will return to Spain.

There isn’t much description available about the guards’ other Guard #2 being white. The guards can turn up in the King’s Landing, Riverrun, The Eyrie, Winterfell, Army of the Dead or the Golden Company. Only time will tell.

Sailor, aged 35- 50. “He’s a rough-and-ready sea-faring type with a weathered face and strong presence.” With Euron going to the Iron Islands to rescue Yara, this sailor seems like the one who is gonna help Euron in his quest to save his sister. This character will film scenes the week of December 11.

This is the description of all seven new roles for Game of Thrones Season 8. Can’t wait to see these new characters on-screen.

When Can We Expect The Premiere Date for Game of Thrones Season 8?

The shooting schedules of these seven new characters for Game of Thrones Season 8 shed quite a bit of information on when to expect the premiere date of Game of Thrones Season 8. For example, the mercenary will be filming the week of December 11, and then again in May and June of 2018. So that means HBO will be filming season 8 through June at least, meaning that the shoot will last, at a minimum, for eight months, which is longer than usual.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, it’ll run all the way through August, which is much longer than usual. So we can expect the premiere date for Game of Thrones Season 8 to be anywhere near November 2018 to early 2019. With the big whopping budget of Game of Thrones Season 8, the expectations of the fans have skyrocketed.

We will bring you more news as it becomes available.

Game of Thrones Season 8 Budget Is Gonna Be Huge

Long Night is Coming Game of Thrones Season 8 budget

Game of Thrones Season 8 Budget

Good news for Game of Thrones fans. Game of Thrones Season 8 budget is being discussed and according to a new report, the final six episodes will cost a whopping $15 million per episode. But wait, that’s not it. According to the buzz, the actual budget may be even bigger for each episode of Game of Thrones Season 8.

We saw amazing battle scenes in the Spoils of War and Beyond the Wall. Not to forget Jon Snow’s bonding scene with Drogon. All of these take special effects which are astronomically expensive. There were more dragon shots than ever seen before in Game of Thrones Season 6 so we can expect much more in the next season.

The final six episodes of Thrones will all reportedly be feature-length. The longest episode of the series to date, the Season 7 finale, clocked in at just shy of 80 minutes. The last season will feature more battle scenes than the last season so it’s only fair that David Benioff and D. B. Weiss demand more money per episode from HBO.

Game of Thrones Season 8 Directors Finalized

We now know that Miguel Sapochnik (of the Battle of Bastards and Hardhome fame) will be making a comeback for directing some episodes of Season 8. Miguel is not shy of putting special effects in the episodes (Talk about Giants in Hardhome and Battle of Bastards). He will have many resources at his disposal given the $15 million budget for each episode. Weiss and Benioff are going to direct the Game of Thrones finale so we may get lucky to see Nymeria and Ghost as well in the finale.

We may also see the deadly dragon battle, Drogon vs. undead Viserion in the next season. This was confirmed by Game of Thrones Sound Designer Paula Fairfield in an interview with Vanity Fair. Game of Thrones Season 8 budget may give us shots of the direwolves, dragon shots and undead giants shots. Can’t wait for Season 8 to begin.

Tom Hopper (Dickon Tarly) Speculates Game of Thrones Ending

Dickon Tarly Speculates Game of Thrones Ending

Dickon Tarly (Tom Hopper)

Tom Hopper who played Dickon Tarly has his own speculations on how Game of Thrones will end. He talked about two major theories about Game of Thrones Season 8.

Dickon Tarly (Tom Hopper) On How Game of Thrones Will End

We have talked about how Sam Tarly can be a central character in defeating the Night King and ending the Great War. There has been a discussion about how Sam can end up writing the history of Westeros, A Song of Ice and Fire‘. Tom Hopper supports this idea.

Dickon Tarly Speculates Game of Thrones Ending

Samwell Tarly With Archmaester Ebrose at The Citadel

I like the Sam fan theory,” Tom Hopper said. “It’s that Samwell Tarly is narrating the whole thing like it’s his story.”

Ahhh..That’s interesting and quite fitting to Sam’s character played by John Bradley. I wonder if George RR Martin likes this idea.

John Bradley also offered his thoughts on this speculation after Game of Thrones Season 6. He said, “One theory is that what we’re seeing now and how we’re experiencing Game of Thrones is Sam telling the story of Game of Thrones. If you take the logic of the story now, the story of Westeros and the story of the battle for the Iron Throne, it would be a book in [the Citadel] library,” he told The Hollywood Reporter last year.

So Sam Tarly ending up writing Westeros’ history is very much likely.

Tom Hopper didn’t just stop there. He weighed in on the Valonqar prophecy of Maggy the Frog, that Cersei Lannister will be strangled to death by someone known as “the Valonqar”. In Valyrian, it translates as “little brother” or “younger sibling”. In Tom Hopper’s words, “I think Jamie is probably going to end up killing Cersei.”

We saw Jaime breaking all bonds with Cersei when he comes to know that Cersei lied to Daenerys and Tyrion about contributing Lannister bannermen to fight the Night King. We saw Jaime leaving the King’s Landing after Cersei almost killed Jaime.

Game of Thrones To Shoot Multiple Endings For Series Finale

Game of Thrones Season 8 Multiple Endings

Game of Thrones Season 8 Multiple Endings Makes Emilia Go Like…

Why Multiple Endings For Game of Thrones Season 8?

Game of Thrones is planning to work hard to avoid leaks for its highly anticipated eighth and final season.

Speaking at Bethlehem’s Moravian College last week, HBO programming president Casey Bloys revealed that Game of Thrones will film multiple endings for the series so even the show’s cast doesn’t know how the story will end.

I know in Game of Thrones, the ending, they’re going to shoot multiple versions so that nobody really knows what happens,” Bloys was quoted as saying. “You have to do that on a long show. Because when you’re shooting something, people know. So they’re going to shoot multiple versions so that there’s no real definitive answer until the end.”

Game of Thrones suffered multiple leaks last season, with Spoils of War being leaked by Indians. Then HBO accidentally aired its sixth episode Beyond The Wall, a few days prior to its release date. Dan Weiss even refused to tell media about their plan to prevent leaks for Game of Thrones Season 8. He replied, “We don’t even want to tell you because if we do then somebody will figure out how to circumvent the things that we’re doing.”

What Do We Know So Far About Game of Thrones Season 8 Premiere Date?

GoT is going into production in October and will debut its final season — which consists of six episodes — in either late 2018 or 2019. Comments by Casey Bloys can be found here.

The thought of Game of Thrones Season 8 multiple endings is interesting. Leave your comments on what those endings may look like. Will Cersei die and Jon Snow/Daenerys will rule Westeros? Will the Night King be defeated? Or would the Night King destroy everything? Who will survive the Great War in the end? So many questions and on top of that even the actors won’t know. So maybe there will be multiple leaks for each possible ending? Only time will tell.

Game of Thrones Season 8 Spoilers: Dothraki To Play A Major Role?

Incoming – Game of Thrones Season 8 spoilers –  A photo purporting to be from the set of Game of Thrones season eight at the Titanic Studios in Belfast appears to show a huge Dothraki hut, suggesting that the Dothraki screamers will have a big part to play in the final series.

Sources of the newspaper, Los Sieto Reinos, say that they got a rather curious photo of a mysterious Dothraki hut as well as information about it. The hut in the image was on set with two other similar structures – one of which was reportedly “much larger” than the other two. So three Dothraki huts – interesting.

Dothraki Hut in Vaes Dothrak. Similar hut spotted on Game of Thrones Season 8 set in Titanic Studios in Belfast.

We all know that Daenerys is sailing towards Winterfell With Jon Snow.

In Game of Thrones Season 7 finale, Jon Snow says, “If we have the Dothraki ride hard on the kingsroad, they’ll arrive at Winterfell within the fortnight. And the Unsullied? We can sail with them to White Harbor, meet the Dothraki here on the kingsroad, then ride together to Winterfell.”

So may be those huts are for the scenes to show Dothraki camped on the kingsroad or near the white harbor. Or somewhere outside the Winterfell castle as the castle can’t hold 40,000 Dothraki screamers. It will interesting to see Dothraki in action. We have all seen how they can stand on their horses and shoot arrows in the loot train battle.

Stay tuned for more Game of Thrones Season 8 spoilers. The show’s producers are reportedly considering a plan to begin filming Game Of Thrones season 8 in October 2017, with production set to carry through all the way until August 2018. This could delay the episodes’ air date until 2019.

HBO programming boss Casey Bloys said: “Our production people are trying to figure out a timeline for the shoot and how much time the special effects take. The shooting is complicated enough — on different continents, with all the technical aspects — and the special effects are a whole other production period that we’re trying to figure out. That is a big factor in all of this.”

This is huge. Kit Harington smiled when a reporter asked the question, “Do you become a father in Season 8?“.

Kit wasn’t prepared for this question it seems and he gave an honest answer with his smile. Usually he’s able to lie in interviews because he prepares himself to do so, but here his reaction was completely natural. Also, the shooting for Game of Thrones season 8 starts in October. So Kit Harington has most likely seen the script. So, most likely Daenerys and Jon Snow will have a child together. That means Mirri Maz Duur prophecy won’t hold true. How fun!!
