What Do We Know So Far About Game of Thrones Season 8?

Game of Thrones Season 8 Facts

Game of Thrones Season 8 is the most awaited penultimate final season of Game of Thrones. Here are all the Game of Thrones Season 8 facts.

Game of Thrones Season 8 Facts – What Do We Know So Far About Game of Thrones Season 8?

game of thrones season 8
Game of Thrones Season 8 premiere date will most likely be in late 2018 or in early 2019. Iain Glen (Jorah Mormont) just revealed the reason behind the delay in release date of the next season in his interview with Comic Con 2017.

Game of Thrones Season 8 Premiere Date

Game of Thrones Season 8 cast Game of Thrones Season 8 facts

Iain Glen revealed that production for Game of Thrones season 8 will use only one filming unit instead of two units. The past seasons have used two units with the exception of season 3 which used 3 units.

We’re all starting to occupy the same territory, we’re all starting to be in the same storylines and so they can’t [have two filming units] anymore,” he explained. “I think this last season will take much longer to shoot because they can only use one unit because we’re all in the same sort of scenes.”

So that explains the delay in Game of Thrones Season 8 release date.

Game of Thrones Season 8 Facts – Multiple Endings For Season 8 Finale, Extra Security To Avoid Leaks

game of thrones season 8
Casey Bloys, HBO Programming Director, spoke at Bethlehem revealing that HBO is gonna take strong measures to prevent the leaks. For this reason, Game of Thrones production will shoot multiple endings for season 8 finale. Apparently, even the Game of Thrones cast won’t know how Game of Thrones series will conclude. Game of Thrones Season 8

Speaking of security, recently Liam Cunningham (Davos Seaworth) revealed that he has the Game of Thrones season 8 scripts but he can’t even read them. Why? Because of security concerns. “I got the scripts for the last season. Kind of. I got them all – I can’t open them because of all the security and I can’t walk them out. I went, ‘I’m not touching it I don’t care because it’s like pulling the pin out of a grenade.”

Game of Thrones Season 8 Episodes Will Be Monumental & Of Feature Length

Another fact about Game of Thrones Season 8 is that each episode of the last season of Game of Thrones will be of feature length. Liam Cunningham recently spoke about this with TV Guide

[The episodes are] definitely going to be bigger and what I hear is longer,” says Cunningham. “We’re filming right up until the summer. When you think about it, up until last season we’d have six months to do ten episodes, so we’re [doing] way more than that for six episodes. So that obviously will translate into longer episodes.”

That also explains the delay in Game of Thrones season 8 premiere date. I hope that the wait is worth it. Seems like it will be as John Bradley (Samwell Tarly) revealed in an interview that each episode of Game of Thrones Season 8 will be monumental. Says John Bradley, “I think what we used to call Episode 9 in ‘Game of Thrones’ folklore — the episode when everything comes to a head and you get a lot of spectacular sequences — I think you’re gonna get six ‘Episode 9s’ this year.”

Game of Thrones Season 8 Budget Is Gonna Be Huge – $15 Million Or More Per Episode

Long Night is Coming Game of Thrones Season 8 budget Game of Thrones Season 8 facts

The Night King on the Undead Viserion

Game of Thrones has announced the budget for Season 8. It is going to be $15 million or more per episode. Wow, that’s amazing. That means that perhaps the fans will get to see the direwolves, Ghost and Nymeria. Also, more epic battle scenes. In my opinion, we are going to see epic battle scenes at Winterfell and the King’s Landing. Remember, the Night King is headed towards Winterfell after the wall fell.

Another Game of Thrones Season 8 Facts – Casting Calls For Seven New Roles

Game of Thrones rolled out a nationwide casting call for seven new roles for GoT Season 8. They are looking for a Northern farmeraged 25 – 35; a sassy and attractive girlaged 18 – 25; a mercenary, aged 35-50; a Northern sentryaged 18 – 25; two guards; and a sailor, aged 35- 50.

Most of these roles are based on the people in the north, except the mercenary and the sailor. The mercenary will most likely be part of the Golden Company. The sailor would most likely assist Theon Greyjoy in his quest to rescue Yara Greyjoy.

Game of Thrones Season 8 Directors Confirmed

Game of Thrones has assembled an amazing crew of directors to film the last season. These directors have won Emmys for directing Game of Thrones episodes in the past. Add to that list the showrunners who have created this amazing show.

Miguel Sapochnik is returning to direct 3 episodes of Game of Thrones Season 8. He has directed the famous episodes of ‘Hardhome’, ‘Battle of Bastards’, and ‘The Winds of Winter’. David Nutter who directed ‘The Rains of Castamere (aka The Red Wedding)’, ‘The Dance of Dragons’, and ‘Mother’s Mercy’ will be directing two episodes. And the showrunners, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss (“Walk of Punishment’, and ‘Two Swords’ will direct the penultimate Game of Thrones finale.

Isaac Hempstead Wright: Chaos Is A Ladder Was Badass

Chaos is a ladder

Chaos Is A Ladder – Brandon Stark

Brandon Stark and Littlefinger had a very interesting moment in Game of Thrones Season 7. When Littlefinger gives Brandon the Catspaw dagger Bran utters this phrase, ‘Chaos is a ladder‘ which takes Littlefinger by surprise. Littlefinger had said these exact words to Varys in one of his conversations with him.

Chaos is a ladder

Chaos Is A Ladder – Littlefinger to Varys

Isaac Hempstead Wright, the actor who plays Brandon Stark in Game of Thrones in fact enjoyed that moment when he freaked out Littlefinger. Says Isaac Hempstead Wright, “Saying ’chaos is a ladder’ to Littlefinger was so cool, though. I felt so badass in that scene, like, ‘Chaos is a ladder … yeeaaaah. How do you like that, Littlefinger?'” Yeah, that definitely freaked out Littlefinger.

Brandon Stark was also at times creepy and mostly cold in Game of Thrones Season 7. He came across as a total jerk when he recalled the night Sansa got married to Ramsay Bolton and was raped. Well, Isaac Hempstead Wright just apologized for his creepy behavior as Brandon Stark.

Chaos is a ladder

Brandon Stark With His Sisters, Arya Stark and Sansa Stark

Adds Isaac, ”Yeah, sorry about that. There were some cool bits to get to play, less so that creepy moment with Sansa. That was weird. I don’t think Bran meant that in a weird way. I don’t think he’s trying to freak his sister out by going, ‘Yeah, I know everything. Don’t f**k with me’. It’s more like Bran is processing everything he’s seen, like, ‘I’ve seen you there. That happened to you. I’m sorry for what happened to you’.

Choas is a ladder

Brandon Stark – Three Eyed Raven

And about the cold behavior of Brandon Stark, says Isaac, “Bran has lost that emotional connection. He just states what he sees in an almost autistic way, not really connecting with things but just saying how they are.

Isaac also explained why he didn’t know about Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen’s wedding.

That was a bit confusing. The way I understand, it works like Bran has access. It’s like he’s got a Kindle library of every book of everything that’s ever happened in the world. He can access any of it in a heartbeat, but he hasn’t yet sat there and read it all. The old Three-Eyed Raven had a thousand years to sit in that cave to read every single page of everything that’s happened in the universe, and therefore be completely all knowing. Bran isn’t completely omniscient. He can look up anything he wants, but he hasn’t got it all by heart yet.

At that moment [in the finale], Bran was like, “Oh, yup, Rhaegar was [Jon’s] dad,” but he doesn’t think to explore it further. When Samwell Tarly says that [Rhaegar and Lyanna] were married, he can then confirm it. When his sisters come to him offscreen and go, “Can you look up what is the real deal with Littlefinger?” He can go, “He said this and this and this.”

Well, now we know why Brandon Stark is being so creepy and cold. The full interview can be found here.

Littlefinger Dies in the Finale – Game of Thrones Theories

Littlefinger has done a lot of damage to the Stark family. He betrayed Ned Stark which ultimately led to his execution and misused Catelyn Stark’s trust in him. Littlefinger sided with the Lannisters in the war of five kingdoms. He sold off Sansa Stark to the Boltons knowing the sadistic nature of Ramsay Bolton. And now he is playing off Sansa Stark and Arya Stark against each other. But he is probably in a surprise. What if Littlefinger dies in the Season Finale? Let’s analyze how that can be a possibility.

What is Littlefinger Up To?

Littlefinger dead

Littlefinger in Game of Thrones Season 7 Finale

Littlefinger sees Arya Stark and Sansa Stark’s relationship as a threat. He sees an opening to plant the seeds of mistrust when Arya duels with Brienne in Spoils of War. Littlefinger senses that he can exploit Sansa’s willingness to rule the north as a sign of betrayal towards Jon Snow for Arya. Arya watches as Sansa politely declined House Stark’s bannermen calls for her to supplant Jon Snow as leader of the North. Arya, later on, says to Sansa that she knows Sansa wants to be the queen, “You’re thinking it right now. You don’t want to be. But the thought just won’t go away.”

Later on, Littlefinger leads Arya to a letter written by Sansa in Season 1 to Robb asking him to express fealty to Joffrey. Arya confronts Sansa with that letter saying that she betrayed her family for her beloved Joffrey. Sansa tries to defend herself but Arya isn’t satisfied. Then, Sansa goes to Littlefinger expressing concerns about that letter coming out in public and how Arya can be dangerous. Littlefinger suggests that Brienne of Tarth can intervene if Arya poses any threat to Sansa. But Sansa ships Brienne and Podrick to King’s Landing to represent her at a G8 type summit being hosted by Cersei.

Sansa also finds Arya’s bag of faces and asks Arya about them. Arya scares Sansa by pointing the catspaw dagger at her and says to her that she can become Sansa Stark if she wishes to be. She also misrepresents some facts there especially of wearing pretty dresses if she wears Sansa’s face and also Sansa being all lady like when Ned Stark was being executed.

Littlefinger Dies in the Finale – A Possible Scenario

I think Arya and Sansa are playing a game the way Littlefinger plays other people. They are making Littlefinger believe that his plan of tearing the two sisters apart is working but in reality, there are plenty of clues now from Arya’s and Sansa’s conversation that indicate that this is all a ruse to turn the tables on Littlefinger in his style.

We also have a greenseer Brandon Stark who knows everything. I think Brandon Stark most likely has told Sansa already about Littlefinger’s betrayal towards Stark’s family. Sansa is just plotting a revenge by making Littlefinger think that his plan is working.

Littlefinger Dies

Also, we still have to hear the famous dialogue yet from Sansa, “When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies but the pack survives.”

Game of Thrones Season 7 Finale GIFS

Sansa Stark at Winterfell

Maybe she is gonna say this to Littlefinger when he is all caught up in his lies in front of all Stark House Bannermen. We will most likely say goodbye to Littlefinger in the season’s finale. Hence, why I think Littlefinger dies.

Anatomy of The Frozen Lake Battle- Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 6 featured ‘The Frozen Lake Battle’ where a group of twelve people go for a hunt of a dead wight far north beyond the wall.

The crew discusses the making of this amazing sequence.

The Frozen Lake Battle

Says D. B. Weiss, “It was a real back and forth about who would be on this mission, who wouldn’t be on this missionThe Dirty Dozen obviously came to mind. Everybody has a good reason to hate everybody else.” We see Jon Snow, Tormund Giantsbane, Jorah Mormont, Gendry, Thoros of Myr, Beric Dondarrion, The Hound and five other wildings go on this suicide mission to rescue a dead wight to show to Cersei that the threat is real.

The Frozen Lake Battle

Suicide Squad

Some of the sequence was shot in Iceland. The crew worked in cold conditions as hell. Most of the heavy-lifting of the sequence, was in Wolf Hill Quarry in Belfast. The crew had a very hard time trying to work out what a frozen lake looks like, and how they can achieve that. And that went from compacted quarry floor to putting concrete down, to nice, flat finish, and then there had to be hues of color that were added to that. Then they had to work out how the ice would look, trying to make that look three-dimensional, and as if it was transparent ice. They worked hard to make the frozen lake look real.

Says Kit Harrington, “I think there’s a sort of kick-bollocks scrambleness to filming out here where you, you have such limited daylight. And you have conditions which are like this or worse. It just gives it a sense of reality, you know.”

The Frozen Lake Battle

Kit Harrington in Beyond The Wall

Remarks Emilia Clarke, “You know, the harder the challenge, the more I relish it. But this really, you’re like, “Can I just even maybe have, like, a screen with, like, clouds or something?” I’ve never flown on a dragon! And to just harness that power. I mean, can you even imagine?

In this sequence we got to see a wight polar bear, a dragon dying, hundreds and thousands of wights fighting with the Suicide Squad. I would say that the crew did an amazing job in filming this sequence.

What Did Arya Stark Find In The Letter: ‘Eastwatch’

The question on everyone’s mind after watching today’s episode ‘Eastwatch’ is that what did Arya Stark find in the letter in Littlefinger’s room.

What Did Arya Stark Find In The Letter

The Letter That Arya Stark Found in Littlefinger’s Room

Littlefinger Is Playing The Stark Sisters

Littlefinger AKA Petyr Baelish doesn’t want the sisterly bond between Arya and Sansa to become tighter. He has conspired all these years to get the Iron Throne. Baelish is not gonna let this relationship between Sansa and Arya to come in the way of his plans. He saw an opportunity on Sansa’s side of the relationship during the duel between Arya and Brienne in the previous episode. Sansa disapproves of Arya of being not a Lady like her. She senses that Arya can be dangerous. When she sees Arya’s swordswomanship she is a bit stunned. Littlefinger has strategically decided to take advantage of it.

He wants to give Arya a reason to unleash her anger at Sansa. He lures Arya to spy on him and sets everything up, including talking to an orderly girl in Winterfell, having a discussion with Maester Wolkon and one of the Stark bannerman, and when the Maester comes to deliver the letter in question he says, “Lady Stark thanks you for your service“. Arya breaks into Littlefinger’s room and finds that letter which has Sansa’s signature on it. He knows that when Sansa sees the dangerous and angry side of Arya she is gonna turn towards Littlefinger for comfort. Sansa knows that Jon Snow will also support Arya because of a strong bond between them. So who is gonna support Sansa? Of course, Littlefinger AKA Baelish.

What Did Arya Stark Find In The Letter

This is the same letter that Cersei made Sansa write to Robb Stark in Season 1. Cersei had just captured Ned Stark and she tries to manipulate Sansa to ask her brother, Robb Stark, to come to King’s Landing and swear his fealty to Joffrey Baratheon. Sansa, begrudgingly and out of fear for her life, agrees to write that letter.

What Did Arya Stark Find In The Letter

Sansa Writing A Letter to Robb Stark in Game of Thrones Season 1. Others present are Cersei, Littlefinger, Varys, and Maester Pycelle.

Littlefinger knows about the letter as he was right there when this happened. In fact, he advocates on behalf of Sansa and advises Cersei to give Sansa a chance to prove her loyalty. Cersei, upon Littlefinger’s advice, asks Sansa to pen that letter and send a raven to Robb Stark. That answers our question, “What did Arya Stark find in the letter in Littlefinger’s room?”

Littlefinger knows that Maester Luwin kept a copy of all the letters that came in. We hear Arya’s voice in the preview of the next episode, “You’re scared, aren’t you? What are you scared of?“. We would have to wait to see what happens in the next episode. Does Arya take Littlefinger’s bait and decide that Sansa is the enemy? That Sansa Stark actually asked Robb to bend the knee to Joffrey, the murderer of Ned Stark? We would have to wait for that until next week.

Game of Thrones Leak: Arya Stark Back In Winterfell

In the Game of Thrones leak posted by a YouTuber, we see that Arya Stark is back in Winterfell. It was a really heart touching scene when she looks at Winterfell before entering the castle. Her first stop is Godswood to pay a homage to her dead parents.

Game of Thrones Leak: What Happens When Arya Stark Returns to Winterfell?

Arya is then reunited with her sister Sansa Stark and her brother Brandon Stark. Brandon is no longer Brandon anymore as he is the three eyed raven now. He tells Arya about his visions and also gives Arya the knife that Littlefinger has given to him. Perhaps he is already gearing Arya up to kill Littlefinger in the coming episodes. Brandon knows that Littlefinger had a hand in killing his father.

Arya also duels with Brienne of Tarth in this episode. Twirling Needle, her sword, around gracefully, Arya more than holds her own with Brienne, who has perhaps found her protegee. Sansa doesn’t look very happy to know about Arya’s swordsmanship.

The full episode will air on HBO on Sunday at 9 pm EST.

For more info on the leaked episode check this out. The leak was officially acknowledged by HBO today.

Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 3 Top Moments

There were some key moments that can be called as Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 3 top moments. I couldn’t take my eyes off from my TV for even a single second. It was simply fantastic.

Meeting of Ice & Fire – Jon Snow Meets Daenerys Stormborn – The Most Awaited Moment on Game of Thrones

According to David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, the spine of the episode is about the first meeting of Ice and Fire – Jon Snow and Daenerys Stormborn.

Jon Snow doesn’t have much idea about what Daenerys has gone through. Jon refuses to bend his knee to the Mother of Dragons as he probably he sees a rich girl with a fancy name sitting in a big chair with a fancy dress on proclaiming herself as the queen of the world. He doesn’t have much respect for her perhaps at this moment. He didn’t come to Dragonstone to join her in her fight against Cersei. None of that matters for him at this point. All that matters is fighting the dead.

According to Weiss, she looks at him and she thinks that he is some unwashed barbarian from the north, and he is a bastard and yet he’s calling himself king. If she perhaps knew what he’d seen she’d be looking very very differently at what he’s telling her. But at this point in time, she only sees Jon as someone who’s trying to carve up her piece of her kingdom for himself. And Dany is thinking that if what this guy is saying is true, then it really is an issue.  But Dany has her own very serious issues to deal with in the shape of the woman who’s now sitting on the throne. Cersei is a murderous vicious woman, capable of insane amounts of brutality without a second thought if she feels like it’s what needs to be done.

After Tyrion’s advice, Dany agrees to have Jon mine the dragonglass. That is the first step from her side to make Jon an ally and to show good faith.

The Battle of Casterly Rock – One of Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 3 Top Moments

According to David Benioff and Weiss, everyone realizes the two pulls of power for Cersei and Jaime at this point are Kings Landing and Casterly Rock. But Jaime also knows that he doesn’t have the forces to defend both. So he makes the strategic decision to give up Casterly Rock, to use it as a decoy, to lure the Unsullied over there to take it and to get them on the exact wrong side of the continent. The siege of Casterly Rock is so much about what doesn’t happen, how it goes contrary to expectations, so in order for us to understand that it doesn’t play out the way Tyrion expects it to, you really need to hear Tyrion’s expectations.

Jaime goes after the Highgarden, which is for him much more valuable because of Highgarden’s Tyrell’s stronghold, which commands almost all the fertile regions of Westeros. They are the wealthiest house but fighting isn’t really their forte.

Death Scene of Olenna Tyrell – One of Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 3 Top Moments

Jaime thinks that he finally got to turn the tables on someone. But Olena still wins the scene. The one thing that she does have left to live for is the thing she saves for the very end of the scene. The piece of information that she’s been sitting on since season four. She beats him in the middle of her own death scene, and there’s nothing he can do about it. He knows that its true the moment she says it, “Tell Cersei I wanted to her to know that it was me”. She admits to Jaime that he killed his and Cersei’s son, King Joffrey, on his wedding day with Margaery Tyrell.

Brandon Stark Comes Back to Winterfell And Unites With Sansa Stark

Brandon Stark is finally at his home in Winterfell. But at this point, he is more worried about fighting the Night King. He wants to tell Jon Snow about the truth behind him being half Targaryen and half Stark. This is really important because it’s highly likely that Jon Snow will be riding one of the dragons, possibly Rhaegal in season 8 in the battle against the army of the dead.

Jorah Mormont’s Greyscale Gets Cured – Another One of The Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 3 Top Moments

Jorah’s greyscale is cured at the moment by Samwell Tarly and he is off to fight alongside Daenerys. This is a defining moment as Samwell Tarly has discovered a way to provide treatment for greyscale to patients who are not young and whose disease is advanced. Archmaester Marwyn is pleased with Sam and has tasked Sam with organizing manuscripts which will ultimately become the book called ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’.
