Is The Night King Headed To Isle of Faces Or Winterfell Or Both?

Is Night King Headed To Isle of Faces?

In the final moments of Game of Thrones‘ seventh season, we saw the Night King bring down the Wall at Eastwatch-by-the-Sea and then crossing into Westeros with the army of the dead at his back. There are a couple of places the Night King might be heading while mounted on undead/wight dragon Viserion, along with his army of the dead.

Can he be headed to Isle of Faces? Possibly, yes. The Isle of Faces is an island located at the center of Gods Eye, an immense lake on the south-eastern edge of the Riverlands and the north-western edge of the Crownlands. The castle of Harrenhal lies on the coast of the lake to the north of the isle.

The Isle of Faces has significant importance for the people of Westeros. It is regarded as a sacred place where the Old of Westeros . According to a myth, it was here that the Children of the Forest and the First Men signed The Pact, the treaty that ended centuries of warfare between the two peoples.

Priests of the Old Gods known as the Green Men dwell here since the Andals invasion. According to legend, the island is filled with weirwood trees. Each of the trees has a face, carved in witness to the signing of the Pact. Rumor is that the Green Men keep the common folk of Westeros away from the Isle of Faces with magic. The Night King might want to use the magical powers of the Isle to give life to his undead army. Game of Thrones series has mentioned Gods Eye a few times inwhere the isle of faces resides.

Army of the Dead forms a Stark Sigil at Eastwatch

There was this a tiny detail in Game of Thrones Season 7 finale where army of the dead while crossing the wall at Eastwatch formed a Stark sigil. Some people have theorized that Brandon Stark is the Night King which the actor Isaac Hempstead Wright who plays Brandon Stark has rejected. What if the Night King is Brandon Stark? Anyway, the first stop for the Night King after taking Castle Black will most likely be Winterfell. We will most likely witness a battle between Jon Snow, Daenerys and her dragons and the Night King and his undead dragon.

To go more crazy, Night King (who is Brandon Stark?) will march upon Winterfell and then King’s Landing. He will kill all the main surviving characters of Game of Thrones and then go to the Gods Eye where Isle of Faces is and revive all those who are dead. A win in the end for Westerosis. So basically Brandon will totally annihilate the army of the dead and bring everyone back to the living.

Let’s see if this crazy theory plays out this way. What do you all think? Leave your comments.

Is Cersei Lannister Pregnant With Jaime’s Child: Eastwatch

The writers of Game of Thrones play this game with viewers. A lot happens in one episode and everything is not explicit. The bombshell that they dropped in today’s episode ‘Eastwatch‘ is that Cersei Lannister reveals to Jaime Lannister, by not so much in words but only gestures, that she is pregnant with Jaime Lannister’s child. But is Cersei Lannister pregnant? I have my doubts.

Is Cersei Lannister Pregnant Or Is She Faking It?

Cersei Lannister Places A Hand On Her Belly To Tell Jaime That She Is Pregnant

Jaime comes to meet with Cersei to tell her that he met with Tyrion Lannister. But Cersei has her own news to give to Jaime. She says, “Dead men, and dragons, and dragon queens, whatever stands in our way we will defeat it. For ourselves, for our house, and for this.” When she says for this, she points to her belly and Jaime is like WOAH!!!!

Jaime Lannister’s Reaction When Cersei Announces That She Is Pregnant

Jaime asks Cersei, “Who would you say is the father?“. Cersei replies, “You“. Jaime responds that people won’t like that. Cersei says, “What did father use to say about people?” Jaime replies, “The Lion does not concern himself with the opinions of the sheep“.

Cersei and Jaime Sharing Their Big Moment

But again, is Cersei Lannister Pregnant? She has reasons to lie about it.

Cersei Knows That Jaime Is Her Wild Card

In the episode earlier, Jaime breaks the news to Cersei that Olenna was the one to kill Joffrey. All these years Cersei theorized that Tyrion killed Joffrey. But she was wrong. Jaime makes her believe by the logic that Olenna is the one who would have benefitted from Joffrey’s death, not Tyrion. He asks her if she had a daughter whom she would like her to marry? Someone like Joffrey who was totally out of control or someone like Tommen who could be easily manipulated. It all starts making sense to Cersei then.

Jaime also confesses to Cersei that they cannot win against Daenerys’s Dothraki army and her dragons. Cersei feels that his grip on Jaime is getting loose. But she needs Jaime to see this war through. She is a manipulative shrew and she can go to whatever lengths necessary to keep her trump card, Jaime, close to her. By gesturing towards her belly she creates a moment for Jaime to believe that now whatever they do it’s not only for them but also for their baby who is allegedly on the way.

Cersei Tells Jaime That She Will Go Public About Jaime Being The Father

Cersei has calculated this in her head if she is lying about this. She can’t be serious about going public with this news. She knows what shame feels like from personal experience (her the walk of atonement in Season 5). She also knows that Targaryens used to get married among their siblings, so may be she will justify changing the rule for Lannisters by giving that as an example. But she also knows that announcing her pregnancy with Jaime being the father won’t be taken well by her army and by the people of Westeros. Especially, when she is contesting the throne against the mother of dragons. But then, Daenerys may also make out with Jon Snow which is also incest. So incest may just become the norm for Westerosis. I hope not!!

Here is another twist though. She warns Jaime in the end, “Never betray me again“. Jaime has What In The Seven Hells expression. Perhaps, in that moment, Jaime realizes what Cersei is doing to him.

So is Cersei Lannister pregnant or if she is going to the next level of shrewdness and dirty politics to keep Jaime in her pocket. I think of Olenna Tyrell’s last words to Jaime, “Cersei is a disease. She will be the end of you“.

The Truth About Rhaegar Targaryen

We saw in Season 6 of Game of Thrones that Jon Snow is not the bastard son of Ned Stark. We saw Lyanna Stark in The Tower of Joy when she tells her brother Ned Stark about her relationship with Rhaegar Targaryen. She makes Ned promise to not tell Robert Baratheon about Jon as Robert will kill him. Lyanna Stark dies after giving birth to Jon Snow and Ned Stark brings Jon back to Winterfell as his bastard son.

The Truth About Rhaegar Targaryen

Drogon and Jon Snow in Eastwatch

Jon Snow is unaware of the fact that he is not Ned Stark’s bastard. He doesn’t know that he has Targaryen blood. He has no idea on the truth about Rhaegar Targaryen and her mother. But in the preview of Eastwatch, we see a shot where Drogon stands in front of Jon just like he did for Daenerys in Season 5 before she took her first ride on him.

The Truth About Rhaegar Targaryen

Drogon in front of Daenerys in Season 5

Will this be an indication to Daenerys that Jon will be one of the other dragon riders? There is already some chemistry brewing between Jon and Daenerys. Jon will most likely ride Rhaegal, the dragon Daenerys named after brother Rhaegar Targaryen who also happens to be Jon Snow’s father. The only person who knows about Jon’s true parentage is Brandon Stark, the Three Eyed Raven. We also see in the preview that Jon talks about Bran’s visions of the Army of the Dead advancing towards Eastwatch. Will Jon Snow also receive news from Bran about who his parents are? There are so many questions on the minds of the readers. It is hard to wait for the next episode. But meanwhile, let’s watch the preview again.

Let us see when Jon Snow comes to know about his true parentage and when we will see him riding a dragon. Join me tomorrow for a live analysis and commentary on Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 5 ‘Eastwatch’.

Why is Eastwatch by the Sea Important?

Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 5 is named ‘Eastwatch’. Viewers and fans are wondering why is Eastwatch by the Sea important?

Eastwatch by the Sea – Relevance and History

Eastwatch by the Sea

Eastwatch by the Sea in the map of Westeros

Nights Watch mans Eastwatch by the Sea castle. It is located at the far eastern end of the wall. It also serves as a port, just like the Kings Landing, White Harbor, and Gulltown, on the eastern coast of the continent of Westeros. It is also the point where the Great Wall drops into an inlet of the Shivering Sea called the Bay of Seals. Right now, it is manned by Cottor Pyke, and also includes Borcas, head Stewart of Eastwatch, and Dareon, a newly made Stewart of Eastwatch as its residents. In short, Eastwatch by the Sea is the point where the wall meets the sea. Eastwatch is the closest castle to Hardhome, the Wildling village where Jon encountered the White Walker army in Game of Thrones Season 5 Episode 8.

Mentions of Eastwatch by the Sea in Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones Season 1

Jeor Mormont tells Jon Snow that four wights in the snow were found by Cottor Pyke’s men near Eastwatch. Unlike the men at Castle Black, they had the sense to burn them. Dareon is assigned to the Stewards and is sent by Maester Aemon to Eastwatch.

Game of Thrones Season 2

Tyrion Lannister dumps Janos Slynt onto a boat headed for Eastwatch by the Sea.

Game of Thrones Season 3

When Jon Snow infiltrates the wildlings, he is asked by Orell that which of the nineteen castles along the Wall are still being manned by the Nights Watch. Jon replies that only Castle Black, Eastwatch by the Sea, and the Shadow Tower are still being manned.

Game of Thrones Season 5

Stannis Baratheon advises the recently elected Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch, Jon Snow to appoint Alliser Thorne as commander of Eastwatch, during his stay at Castle Black. Jon, instead, appoints Alliser Thorne as the First Ranger in recognition of his service.

Game of Thrones Season 7

Dragonstone

Jon Snow, in the episode Dragonstone, asks that the Wildling army, now led by Tormund Giantsbane, head to Eastwatch by the Sea to stand as the first line of defense against the oncoming White Walkers.  The Hound also sees a terrifying vision while staring into a fire alongside Beric Dondarrion: “The Wall… It’s where the wall meets the sea. There’s a castle there. There’s a mountain, looks like an arrowhead. The dead are marching past, thousands of them.”

Eastwatch

That brings us to the upcoming episode of Game of Thrones Season 7. Eastwatch by the Sea is going to play a pivotal role in the fight between the army of the dead and the living. That will be the first face off between the Wildlings being led by Tormund Giantsbane and the army of the dead. Tormund is definitely going to need a lot of help soon. I just hope that Daenerys agrees soon to help Jon Snow with her dragons and Dothraki army.
