What Do We Know So Far About Game of Thrones Season 8?

Game of Thrones Season 8 Facts

Game of Thrones Season 8 is the most awaited penultimate final season of Game of Thrones. Here are all the Game of Thrones Season 8 facts.

Game of Thrones Season 8 Facts – What Do We Know So Far About Game of Thrones Season 8?

game of thrones season 8
Game of Thrones Season 8 premiere date will most likely be in late 2018 or in early 2019. Iain Glen (Jorah Mormont) just revealed the reason behind the delay in release date of the next season in his interview with Comic Con 2017.

Game of Thrones Season 8 Premiere Date

Game of Thrones Season 8 cast Game of Thrones Season 8 facts

Iain Glen revealed that production for Game of Thrones season 8 will use only one filming unit instead of two units. The past seasons have used two units with the exception of season 3 which used 3 units.

We’re all starting to occupy the same territory, we’re all starting to be in the same storylines and so they can’t [have two filming units] anymore,” he explained. “I think this last season will take much longer to shoot because they can only use one unit because we’re all in the same sort of scenes.”

So that explains the delay in Game of Thrones Season 8 release date.

Game of Thrones Season 8 Facts – Multiple Endings For Season 8 Finale, Extra Security To Avoid Leaks

game of thrones season 8
Casey Bloys, HBO Programming Director, spoke at Bethlehem revealing that HBO is gonna take strong measures to prevent the leaks. For this reason, Game of Thrones production will shoot multiple endings for season 8 finale. Apparently, even the Game of Thrones cast won’t know how Game of Thrones series will conclude. Game of Thrones Season 8

Speaking of security, recently Liam Cunningham (Davos Seaworth) revealed that he has the Game of Thrones season 8 scripts but he can’t even read them. Why? Because of security concerns. “I got the scripts for the last season. Kind of. I got them all – I can’t open them because of all the security and I can’t walk them out. I went, ‘I’m not touching it I don’t care because it’s like pulling the pin out of a grenade.”

Game of Thrones Season 8 Episodes Will Be Monumental & Of Feature Length

Another fact about Game of Thrones Season 8 is that each episode of the last season of Game of Thrones will be of feature length. Liam Cunningham recently spoke about this with TV Guide

[The episodes are] definitely going to be bigger and what I hear is longer,” says Cunningham. “We’re filming right up until the summer. When you think about it, up until last season we’d have six months to do ten episodes, so we’re [doing] way more than that for six episodes. So that obviously will translate into longer episodes.”

That also explains the delay in Game of Thrones season 8 premiere date. I hope that the wait is worth it. Seems like it will be as John Bradley (Samwell Tarly) revealed in an interview that each episode of Game of Thrones Season 8 will be monumental. Says John Bradley, “I think what we used to call Episode 9 in ‘Game of Thrones’ folklore — the episode when everything comes to a head and you get a lot of spectacular sequences — I think you’re gonna get six ‘Episode 9s’ this year.”

Game of Thrones Season 8 Budget Is Gonna Be Huge – $15 Million Or More Per Episode

Long Night is Coming Game of Thrones Season 8 budget Game of Thrones Season 8 facts

The Night King on the Undead Viserion

Game of Thrones has announced the budget for Season 8. It is going to be $15 million or more per episode. Wow, that’s amazing. That means that perhaps the fans will get to see the direwolves, Ghost and Nymeria. Also, more epic battle scenes. In my opinion, we are going to see epic battle scenes at Winterfell and the King’s Landing. Remember, the Night King is headed towards Winterfell after the wall fell.

Another Game of Thrones Season 8 Facts – Casting Calls For Seven New Roles

Game of Thrones rolled out a nationwide casting call for seven new roles for GoT Season 8. They are looking for a Northern farmeraged 25 – 35; a sassy and attractive girlaged 18 – 25; a mercenary, aged 35-50; a Northern sentryaged 18 – 25; two guards; and a sailor, aged 35- 50.

Most of these roles are based on the people in the north, except the mercenary and the sailor. The mercenary will most likely be part of the Golden Company. The sailor would most likely assist Theon Greyjoy in his quest to rescue Yara Greyjoy.

Game of Thrones Season 8 Directors Confirmed

Game of Thrones has assembled an amazing crew of directors to film the last season. These directors have won Emmys for directing Game of Thrones episodes in the past. Add to that list the showrunners who have created this amazing show.

Miguel Sapochnik is returning to direct 3 episodes of Game of Thrones Season 8. He has directed the famous episodes of ‘Hardhome’, ‘Battle of Bastards’, and ‘The Winds of Winter’. David Nutter who directed ‘The Rains of Castamere (aka The Red Wedding)’, ‘The Dance of Dragons’, and ‘Mother’s Mercy’ will be directing two episodes. And the showrunners, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss (“Walk of Punishment’, and ‘Two Swords’ will direct the penultimate Game of Thrones finale.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau: I Hope Jaime Lannister Doesn’t Become a Wight

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau who plays Jaime Lannister in Game of Thrones has dropped some spoilers on what might happen to Jaime’s character in Game of Thrones Season 8.

Will Jaime Lannister Become an Undead Wight?

Says Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, “The fear is that I would be turned into one of those undead. That would suck. You know some of the main characters are going to get turned. There are going to be some blue-eyed main characters running around. And, god, I hope it’s not me. That’s three hours of make-up in the morning. I know that if David Benioff and Dan Weiss read this, they’ll go, “Oh, yes we will.

Jaime Lannister

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau also confirmed that he is definitely heading north. He also has a Valyrian steel sword which will be very useful in killing the white walkers.                                                                                                                                         “I do think he’s heading north, unless he’s tricking us all and goes south and just says, “I’m getting the hell out of here.” The double-double-double cross. “I lost my hand, what am I even going to do up there?” He could just be in a row boat getting away. No, I do believe that he’s joining them in the north. You know there are all these swords of Valyrian steel, and you would think those five would all be somewhere in the mix.

Why The Mountain Didn’t Kill Jaime Lannister?

Jaime Lannister

Cersei Orders Mountain to Kill Jaime

Nikolaj talked about the confusing moment in the finale in which Jaime was able to walk away from his family member alive. “There’s a moment of disbelief that he’s actually walking away from her. It could also just be that her little pet weapon didn’t get the subtlety of the hand signal.

He’s really thick. That’s the problem when you bring someone back from the dead: They’re very dumb. You have to be really specific with your orders.

So, Jaime is definitely headed north far away from Cersei. Will he bend the knee to Daenerys Targaryen? That remains to be seen. The full interview can be read here.

Cersei Lannister Costumes: The Narrative Behind Them

Cersei Lannister costumes depict an amazing story of how she has evolved from being Robert Baratheon’s wife to being the queen of Seven Kingdoms.

The Story Cersei Lannister Costumes Narrate

Cersei Lannister Costumes

Cersei Lannister in Red and Gold in Season 1 Episode 1

Cersei is seen in red and gold, house Lannister’s colors in season 1 episode 1 of Game of Thrones. After successfully killing Robert and ascending Joffrey to the crown, she has worn more regal looking gowns.

Cersei has worn her hair up in a classic Southern style in many episodes.

But after her walk of shame and Tommen’s death, Cersei has dressed up more like her father in black with her hair cut short. Her costume designer Michele Clapton decided to go with the black symbolizing her hunger for power, her ruthlessness and to echo similarity to Tywin Lannister, Cersei’s ruthless father. Of one particular dress for the season 6 finale, made of leather layered over silver brocade, Clapton told Vanity Fair, “I knew it had to be leather and I knew it had to be linked to Tywin.

Cersei Lannister costumes

Similarity Between Tywin and Cersei’s Costumes

Black was the obvious choice,” Michele Clapton told Vanity Fair. “Yes, it is for mourning her children, her father . . . but it’s more than that. To me, it represents a deadness inside her—the overwhelming desire for power at any cost. The multi-layered effect created by mounting the leather onto silver brocade gives a more complex feeling, implying that nothing achieved is ever simple.”

Cersei looks amazing in black and all the more powerful. Let’s see how long she stays in power with the army of the dead marching towards Westeros.

Anatomy of The Frozen Lake Battle- Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 6 featured ‘The Frozen Lake Battle’ where a group of twelve people go for a hunt of a dead wight far north beyond the wall.

The crew discusses the making of this amazing sequence.

The Frozen Lake Battle

Says D. B. Weiss, “It was a real back and forth about who would be on this mission, who wouldn’t be on this missionThe Dirty Dozen obviously came to mind. Everybody has a good reason to hate everybody else.” We see Jon Snow, Tormund Giantsbane, Jorah Mormont, Gendry, Thoros of Myr, Beric Dondarrion, The Hound and five other wildings go on this suicide mission to rescue a dead wight to show to Cersei that the threat is real.

The Frozen Lake Battle

Suicide Squad

Some of the sequence was shot in Iceland. The crew worked in cold conditions as hell. Most of the heavy-lifting of the sequence, was in Wolf Hill Quarry in Belfast. The crew had a very hard time trying to work out what a frozen lake looks like, and how they can achieve that. And that went from compacted quarry floor to putting concrete down, to nice, flat finish, and then there had to be hues of color that were added to that. Then they had to work out how the ice would look, trying to make that look three-dimensional, and as if it was transparent ice. They worked hard to make the frozen lake look real.

Says Kit Harrington, “I think there’s a sort of kick-bollocks scrambleness to filming out here where you, you have such limited daylight. And you have conditions which are like this or worse. It just gives it a sense of reality, you know.”

The Frozen Lake Battle

Kit Harrington in Beyond The Wall

Remarks Emilia Clarke, “You know, the harder the challenge, the more I relish it. But this really, you’re like, “Can I just even maybe have, like, a screen with, like, clouds or something?” I’ve never flown on a dragon! And to just harness that power. I mean, can you even imagine?

In this sequence we got to see a wight polar bear, a dragon dying, hundreds and thousands of wights fighting with the Suicide Squad. I would say that the crew did an amazing job in filming this sequence.

Is Cersei Lannister Pregnant With Jaime’s Child: Eastwatch

The writers of Game of Thrones play this game with viewers. A lot happens in one episode and everything is not explicit. The bombshell that they dropped in today’s episode ‘Eastwatch‘ is that Cersei Lannister reveals to Jaime Lannister, by not so much in words but only gestures, that she is pregnant with Jaime Lannister’s child. But is Cersei Lannister pregnant? I have my doubts.

Is Cersei Lannister Pregnant Or Is She Faking It?

Cersei Lannister Pregnant

Cersei Lannister Places A Hand On Her Belly To Tell Jaime That She Is Pregnant

Jaime comes to meet with Cersei to tell her that he met with Tyrion Lannister. But Cersei has her own news to give to Jaime. She says, “Dead men, and dragons, and dragon queens, whatever stands in our way we will defeat it. For ourselves, for our house, and for this.” When she says for this, she points to her belly and Jaime is like WOAH!!!!

Cersei Lannister Pregnant

Jaime Lannister’s Reaction When Cersei Announces That She Is Pregnant

Jaime asks Cersei, “Who would you say is the father?“. Cersei replies, “You“. Jaime responds that people won’t like that. Cersei says, “What did father use to say about people?” Jaime replies, “The Lion does not concern himself with the opinions of the sheep“.

Cersei Lannister Pregnant

Cersei and Jaime Sharing Their Big Moment

But again, is Cersei Lannister Pregnant? She has reasons to lie about it.

Cersei Knows That Jaime Is Her Wild Card

In the episode earlier, Jaime breaks the news to Cersei that Olenna was the one to kill Joffrey. All these years Cersei theorized that Tyrion killed Joffrey. But she was wrong. Jaime makes her believe by the logic that Olenna is the one who would have benefitted from Joffrey’s death, not Tyrion. He asks her if she had a daughter whom she would like her to marry? Someone like Joffrey who was totally out of control or someone like Tommen who could be easily manipulated. It all starts making sense to Cersei then.

Jaime also confesses to Cersei that they cannot win against Daenerys’s Dothraki army and her dragons. Cersei feels that his grip on Jaime is getting loose. But she needs Jaime to see this war through. She is a manipulative shrew and she can go to whatever lengths necessary to keep her trump card, Jaime, close to her. By gesturing towards her belly she creates a moment for Jaime to believe that now whatever they do it’s not only for them but also for their baby who is allegedly on the way.

Cersei Tells Jaime That She Will Go Public About Jaime Being The Father

Cersei has calculated this in her head if she is lying about this. She can’t be serious about going public with this news. She knows what shame feels like from personal experience (her the walk of atonement in Season 5). She also knows that Targaryens used to get married among their siblings, so may be she will justify changing the rule for Lannisters by giving that as an example. But she also knows that announcing her pregnancy with Jaime being the father won’t be taken well by her army and by the people of Westeros. Especially, when she is contesting the throne against the mother of dragons. But then, Daenerys may also make out with Jon Snow which is also incest. So incest may just become the norm for Westerosis. I hope not!!

Here is another twist though. She warns Jaime in the end, “Never betray me again“. Jaime has What In The Seven Hells expression. Perhaps, in that moment, Jaime realizes what Cersei is doing to him.

So is Cersei Lannister pregnant or if she is going to the next level of shrewdness and dirty politics to keep Jaime in her pocket. I think of Olenna Tyrell’s last words to Jaime, “Cersei is a disease. She will be the end of you“.

To know what’s coming in the next episode of Game of Thrones Season 7 watch its preview. We will perhaps find out the truth.

Some of the Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 4 Top Moments

Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 4 had some big moments and they were breathtaking.

Arya Stark Returns Home to Winterfell

Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 4 Top Moments

Ayra Pays Homage to Her Father At Godswood

This is a moment that all fans have been waiting for. Arya Stark finally returns home and reunites with Sansa and Brandon. She pays homage to her dead father by visiting Godswood. Brandon Stark gives him ‘The Cut Throat’, the dagger which was used in an attempt to kill him in Season 1. He gets the dagger from Littlefinger who gifts it to him. This is perhaps one of Brandon’s visions where Arya Stark will kill Littlefinger with that dagger.

She also duels with Brienne of Tarth and it’s a fantastic scene. Sansa watches Arya and Brienne and seems troubled to know of her sister’s swordsmanship.

Brandon Stark Died In The Cave of Three Eyed Raven

Fans have been wondering why Brandon Stark is so cold all of a sudden. He came back to Winterfell and shows hardly any emotion when he meets with Sansa after so many years. Well, that gets explained when Meera Reed comes to say goodbye to Brandon. Meera is shocked to see that Brandon has no feelings about all that she has done for him. Brandon tells Meera that he remembers what it meant to be Brandon Stark but now he also remembers so many other things. At that time Meera realizes that this guy is no longer Brandon Stark. She says, “You died in that cave”. So that mystery is solved for the viewers.

The Spark Between Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen

Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 4 Top Moments

Jon and Daenerys Looking At Carvings From Children of The Forest

We definitely saw some sparks flying between Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen. Jon Snow takes Daenerys in a cave beneath Dragonstone where both exchange some adorable glances. Jon Snow shows to Daenerys the carvings made by Children of the Forest and First Men. The White Walkers carvings convinced Daenerys that the enemy is real. Daenerys tells Jon that she will fight for the North only if Jon bends the knee. It was electrifying when she takes a step towards Jon and looks him in the eye. Jon steps back cautiously when she steps towards Jon.

Later on, Ser Davos asks Jon, “What do you think about her”? Jon replies, ” She has a nice heart”. Ser Davos says, “You are staring quite a bit at her heart”. Jon replies, “There is no time for that right now”. Jon clearly is smitten by Daenerys but he is being cautious. Daenerys has also placed some trust in Jon. She asks him what she should do about the Lannisters when she hears the news about Casterly Rock.

In the last 12 minutes of the episode, we see Daenerys on her dragon and the Dothraki charging towards the Lannisters on their way from Highgarden to Red Keep. Fans have been waiting to see Daenerys say ‘Dracarys’ and they got that moment today. It was amazing to watch that with all the graphics in HD. Dothraki and Drogon destroy Lannisters and Tarlys. Bronn and Jaime hold the fort until the very end of the episode. Bronn hits Drogon with Qyburn’s scorpion which Drogon burns seconds later. In the end scene, Daenerys is trying to get the arrow out of Drogon and Jaime sees that as an opportunity. He charges towards Daenerys with a spear but Drogon hits him with his fire. Someone (most likely Bronn) comes on his horse and pushes Jaime into the water.

It remains to be seen if Jaime would survive. Most likely he will be captured by Dothraki and Daenerys.

Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 3 Top Moments

There were some key moments that can be called as Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 3 top moments. I couldn’t take my eyes off from my TV for even a single second. It was simply fantastic.

Meeting of Ice & Fire – Jon Snow Meets Daenerys Stormborn – The Most Awaited Moment on Game of Thrones

According to David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, the spine of the episode is about the first meeting of Ice and Fire – Jon Snow and Daenerys Stormborn.

Jon Snow doesn’t have much idea about what Daenerys has gone through. Jon refuses to bend his knee to the Mother of Dragons as he probably he sees a rich girl with a fancy name sitting in a big chair with a fancy dress on proclaiming herself as the queen of the world. He doesn’t have much respect for her perhaps at this moment. He didn’t come to Dragonstone to join her in her fight against Cersei. None of that matters for him at this point. All that matters is fighting the dead.

According to Weiss, she looks at him and she thinks that he is some unwashed barbarian from the north, and he is a bastard and yet he’s calling himself king. If she perhaps knew what he’d seen she’d be looking very very differently at what he’s telling her. But at this point in time, she only sees Jon as someone who’s trying to carve up her piece of her kingdom for himself. And Dany is thinking that if what this guy is saying is true, then it really is an issue.  But Dany has her own very serious issues to deal with in the shape of the woman who’s now sitting on the throne. Cersei is a murderous vicious woman, capable of insane amounts of brutality without a second thought if she feels like it’s what needs to be done.

After Tyrion’s advice, Dany agrees to have Jon mine the dragonglass. That is the first step from her side to make Jon an ally and to show good faith.

The Battle of Casterly Rock – One of Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 3 Top Moments

According to David Benioff and Weiss, everyone realizes the two pulls of power for Cersei and Jaime at this point are Kings Landing and Casterly Rock. But Jaime also knows that he doesn’t have the forces to defend both. So he makes the strategic decision to give up Casterly Rock, to use it as a decoy, to lure the Unsullied over there to take it and to get them on the exact wrong side of the continent. The siege of Casterly Rock is so much about what doesn’t happen, how it goes contrary to expectations, so in order for us to understand that it doesn’t play out the way Tyrion expects it to, you really need to hear Tyrion’s expectations.

Jaime goes after the Highgarden, which is for him much more valuable because of Highgarden’s Tyrell’s stronghold, which commands almost all the fertile regions of Westeros. They are the wealthiest house but fighting isn’t really their forte.

Death Scene of Olenna Tyrell – One of Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 3 Top Moments

Jaime thinks that he finally got to turn the tables on someone. But Olena still wins the scene. The one thing that she does have left to live for is the thing she saves for the very end of the scene. The piece of information that she’s been sitting on since season four. She beats him in the middle of her own death scene, and there’s nothing he can do about it. He knows that its true the moment she says it, “Tell Cersei I wanted to her to know that it was me”. She admits to Jaime that he killed his and Cersei’s son, King Joffrey, on his wedding day with Margaery Tyrell.

Brandon Stark Comes Back to Winterfell And Unites With Sansa Stark

Brandon Stark is finally at his home in Winterfell. But at this point, he is more worried about fighting the Night King. He wants to tell Jon Snow about the truth behind him being half Targaryen and half Stark.
