Why Multiple Endings For Game of Thrones Season 8?

Game of Thrones is planning to work hard to avoid leaks for its highly anticipated eighth and final season.

Speaking at Bethlehem’s Moravian College last week, HBO programming president Casey Bloys revealed that Game of Thrones will film multiple endings for the series so even the show’s cast doesn’t know how the story will end.

I know in Game of Thrones, the ending, they’re going to shoot multiple versions so that nobody really knows what happens,” Bloys was quoted as saying. “You have to do that on a long show. Because when you’re shooting something, people know. So they’re going to shoot multiple versions so that there’s no real definitive answer until the end.”

Game of Thrones suffered multiple leaks last season, with Spoils of War being leaked by Indians. Then HBO accidentally aired its sixth episode Beyond The Wall, a few days prior to its release date. Dan Weiss even refused to tell media about their plan to prevent leaks for Game of Thrones Season 8. He replied, “We don’t even want to tell you because if we do then somebody will figure out how to circumvent the things that we’re doing.”

What Do We Know So Far About Game of Thrones Season 8 Premiere Date?

GoT is going into production in October and will debut its final season — which consists of six episodes — in either late 2018 or 2019. Comments by Casey Bloys can be found here.

The thought of Game of Thrones Season 8 multiple endings is interesting. Leave your comments on what those endings may look like. Will Cersei die and Jon Snow/Daenerys will rule Westeros? Will the Night King be defeated? Or would the Night King destroy everything? Who will survive the Great War in the end? So many questions and on top of that even the actors won’t know. So maybe there will be multiple leaks for each possible ending? Only time will tell.
