Yesterday evening,  the hackers who grabbed almost 1.5 TB of data, released more files online and demanded ransom from HBO.




Last week, HBO hackers claimed to have secure 1.5 terabytes of data from the premium cable network’s servers. Most critically, the hackers claimed to hold 3.4 GB of proprietary data, including draft scripts of future Game of Thrones episodes, as well as phone numbers and email addresses for stars Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey, and Emilia Clarke.

In an email sent to several sites, a spokesperson for the team of hackers, calling himself “Mr. Smith” wrote, “this is the second wave. enjoy it…..”

The second wave consists of 10 files, including what may be the script of Episode 5 of Game of Thrones and what appears to be the text of their ransom demand to HBO’s Chairman and CEO, Richard Plepler. This site has the image of all the files that were sent by hackers to several sites.

Hackers release more files hacked from HBO, including the script of Episode 5 of Game of Thrones, legal documents, contact information of Peter Dinklage, Emilia Clarke, and Lena Headey, and a ransom note.

The note to the Chairman and CEO of HBO, Richard Plepler, from a website, reads,

I am Mr. Smith and I have the honor to inform you, on behalf of my colleagues, that we successfully breached in your huge network“.

Mr. Smith wrote that HBO was a challenge to attack and it took them about 6 months.

We confess that HBO was one of our difficult targets to deal with but we succeeded“.

According to databreaches.net, the letter to the CEO ends with a demand of ransom. The exact amount of ransom is not disclosed. Viewers are already excited about the upcoming episode and some fans are fed up with the spoilers. To see what’s coming in the next episode check out its preview.
