Last Sunday’s Game of Thrones Season Finale was epic. There were so many important moments. One of them was Brandon Stark narrating the scene of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen’s marriage and the fact that Jon Snow is Aegon Targaryen, not Ned Stark’s bastard. As that scene unfolded we saw Jon and Daenerys finally making out and Tyrion standing outside Daenerys’s cabin looking all upset. Why did he react that way? Is Tyrion Jealous? Or is he sad?
Is Tyrion Jealous of Jon Snow?
Tyrion Reacting to Jon and Daenerys Having Sex
Tyrion did not look happy when he saw Jon Snow walking into the cabin of Daenerys. He is an intelligent man and he knew that Jon has had a crush on Daenerys since Jon arrived at Dragonstone. But he did not anticipate Jon bending the knee to Daenerys and to make matters worse, Daenerys not telling her own hand about it. Tyrion comes to know about Jon’s pledge to serve Daenerys as his queen at Dragonpit for the first time straight from Jon Snow, not from the queen he serves. That perhaps made him feel left out and small.
Tyrion can see how Daenerys has started relying on Jon Snow. She even asked Jon for advice when she heard the news about Lannisters taking over Highgarden. At that time she was quite mad at Tyrion as his advice to stand down cost her Dorne, Iron Islands and Highgarden. Now with Jon pledging alliance as King in the North to Daenerys, and Daenerys and Jon hooking up, it complicates matters for Tyrion even further.

Tyrion may have made some kind of a deal with Cersei to make her commit to a truce. May be he told Cersei that her unborn child can be named as Daenerys’s successor. We have seen Tyrion talking to Daenerys about choosing a successor to Daenerys in Beyond the Wall. Even though Tyrion thinks that Daenerys can’t have children and Jon Snow and Daenerys having sex won’t change that in his opinion. But he is worried that Daenerys won’t agree to Tyrion’s suggestion of naming Cersei’s child as her successor, especially if Jon Snow and Daenerys get married. That would make Jon Snow a successor after Daenerys. Remember, no one except Brandon Stark and Samwell Tarly know about the fact that Jon Snow is Aegon Targaryen, the true heir to the Iron Throne.
Does Tyrion Love Daenerys?
Tyrion may also have some feelings for Daenerys. He definitely respects her. According to Jeremy Pedeswa, Director of Game of Thrones Finale, in an interview, “Everyone seems to be in love with Dany, in a way, and I think Tyrion’s a little bit in love with her. But I don’t think it’s an actual romantic love. There’s a huge respect for her. And maybe there’s a slight romantic element to that. But it’s more of a jockeying in terms of who has real power. Not over Dany, but who has power in a relationship with Dany. With Tyrion, it’s all about who is going to have sway over her?”
So is Tyrion jealous? Yes, there is some jealousy and some love. But, most likely, Tyrion is worried about losing influence over Daenerys as she gets more and more close to Jon.
