Tyrion Lannister has made many mistakes since the Game of Thrones Season 7 started. He has ill advised Daenerys on many fronts. His advice can cost Daenerys the claim to the Iron Throne, her dragons, and maybe her life, and can start the Great War between the living and the dead. Let’s take a look at all the damage he has done so far.
Bad Counsel by Tyrion Lannister in Stormborn
In the episode Stormborn, Tyrion strongly advises Daenerys to not attack King’s Landing.
In his opinion, conquering Westeros would be easy for Daenerys. But he doesn’t want her to be the queen of ashes. He thinks that with the Tyrells and the Dornish on their side they can win the Iron Throne without turning King’s Landing into a slaughterhouse. But Yara Greyjoy, Ellaria Sand, and Olenna Tyrell do not like Tyrion’s suggestions. Olenna doesn’t think that being nice to people and being loved is gonna help Daenerys claim the Iron Throne in Westeros. Olenna advises her to be a dragon and to not be a sheep. Yara and Ellaria want to attack King’s Landing but against everyone’s wishes, Daenerys decides to go with the advice provided by Tyrion Lannister.
Tyrion suggests that the army that attacks the Red Keep should be Westerosi. He argues that Cersei will try to rally the lords of Westeros by appealing to their loyalty, their love for their country. If they besiege the city with the Unsullied and Dothraki, who are foreigners in Westeros, we will prove her point. He suggests that Yara Greyjoy’s fleet should ferry the Dornish army to the Red Keep and the Dornish and the Tyrell army should lay a siege on King’s Landing which would lead to Cersei bending the knee ultimately.
Well, nothing goes the way Tyrion thought in his head. When the Greyjoy fleet is going to Sunspear to get the Dornish army, they are attacked by Euron Greyjoy’s armada. Euron captures Ellaria Sand and Yara Greyjoy and takes them to the King’s Landing. Not only that, Euron destroys almost all of the Greyjoy fleet. His advice cost Daenerys losing the house of Dorne and the Greyjoy fleet.
Daenerys Loses House Tyrell in The Queen’s Justice
Another master plan of Tyrion Lannister was for The Unsullied to take over Casterly Rock, which is the power seat of the House Lannister. According to him, Cersei will be ready for The Unsullied but he knows a secret passage to the castle of Casterly Rock through the sewers which only he knows. If The Unsullied entered through that secret passage they can get into the castle and fight the Lannister army. According to Tyrion, The Unsullied taking over the Casterly Rock was a sure shot win for Daenerys but again, Cersei and Jaime Lannister were two steps ahead of Tyrion.
Jaime and Cersei, instead, abandon Casterly Rock before The Unsullied arrive, and take over The Highgarden, the power seat of the House Tyrell. Highgarden has fertile lands and that will guarantee food for the Lannisters for the long winter. Jaime also takes over the gold of the House Tyrell to pay off the debt owed to the Iron Bank. Lady Olenna is poisoned to death by Jaime. So, again because of the bad counsel of Tyrion Lannister, Daenerys loses another powerful ally in the South, House Tyrell.
Most Epic Blunder By Tyrion Lannister
The most epic bad advice that perhaps Tyrion has given to Daenerys Targaryen is in Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 5 ‘Eastwatch’. In Eastwatch, Jon receives a raven from Brandon Stark about Army of The Dead marching towards Eastwatch by The Sea. Jon says that he needs to go back to Winterfell right away and prepare his bannerman for fighting the dead unless Daenerys wants to join them. Daenerys says that if she comes with Jon Cersei will take Westeros.
Tyrion then comes up with another genius thought. He says that Cersei will agree to a truce if we prove that Army of the Dead is real. He asks Jon if it’s possible to capture a wight from beyond the wall and bring it to King’s Landing. Tyrion thinks that they can get the support of the Lannister army to fight the Great War if they can manage to have proof. Jon thinks that can be done and leaves with Jorah Mormont, Gendry, and Ser Davos to go to the Eastwatch. At Eastwatch, Jon comes to know that Beric Dondarrion, Thoros of Myr, and The Hound have also come to Eastwatch to fight the dead. The Hound saw a vision in the flames of the Army of The Dead stationed at a mountain shaped like an arrowhead and he saw them marching towards Eastwatch.

Suicide Squad – Jon Snow, Jorah Mormont, Gendry, Tormund, Beric Dondarrion, Thoros of Myr, and The Hound
What Can Be The Consequences of Tyrion Lannister’s Disastrous Advice
Jon Snow, Tormund, Jorah Mormont, Beric Dondarrion, Thoros of Myr, The Hound, and Gendry along with a few other wildlings are now out on a mission beyond the wall to capture a wight to bring back to the King’s Landing. Now, let us examine the consequences of this suicide mission suggested by Tyrion Lannister. The Night King has hundreds and thousands of dead marching with him. Do you think this party of seven to ten people have any chance of making back to the Eastwatch safely? What are the odds they have against hundreds and thousands of dead white walkers? Almost, nada in my opinion. This time they don’t even have ships to save them unlike at the Battle of Hardhome against these dead people and the Night King.
The risk is too great. There is a strong chance that Daenerys would have to go to the North to save this suicide squad. Her other two dragons won’t have any riders to guide them if she goes. According to the stills, from the second preview of Game of Thrones Season 7, it seems like Daenerys will end up going there as we see a lot of Dragon fire beyond the wall.
There is also some speculation by the fans that one of her dragons will die fighting the dead. The Night King will revive that dragon and he will have an ice dragon. Goosebumps!! That can finally give the Night King and the Army of the Dead a way to break the wall. Remember, dragons have magical powers. So there is a risk of the suicide squad dying along with Jon and Dany and the dragons. That’s a lot to risk just to prove to Cersei that the White Walkers exist. And we know the power hungry monster that Cersei is. I don’t think Cersei will agree to any armistice even after seeing the proof of the Army of the Dead. Rather, she can even think of using the Army of the Dead to wipe off her own enemies.
I think Tyrion has gone too far this time. Somewhere in the corner of his heart, he wants House Lannister to not be annihilated completely by Daenerys. He still feels that Jaime will come around, if not Cersei. But his foolish advice can just provide the Night King and the Army of the Dead an entry to Westeros. His counsel might just start the Great War between the living and the dead. Long Night is coming, folks!
